Outstanding citizen science initiatives will be awarded for their impact advancing a pluralistic, inclusive and sustainable society in Europe. There will be one winner in each of the three categories.

Created by the European Commission, the EU Prize for Citizens Science rewards outstanding citizen science initiatives that enact change, expand knowledge, and address social, political, cultural, and environmental challenges through the involvement of citizens.

This is the second edition of the Prize. The first edition took place in 2023, and a third edition is planned in 2025.

The EU Prize for Citizen Science is funded under Horizon Europe, the EU research and innovation programme (2021-2027). It is run by the EU-funded project IMPETUS, managed by European Research Executive Agency (REA). The winners are selected by an independent jury of experts.
