"Open knowledge, fair future"
ESOF2020 was presented in Lausanne in Switzerland at the 11th World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ 2019) in the presence of 1,137 participants from 83 countries with 337 speakers. ESOF’s communications team led by Nico Pitrelli illustrated the principal content of the Open Forum which will be held in the setting of the Old Port of Trieste from 5th to 9th July, 2020, inviting journalists to participate in the event next year.
Particular emphasis was given to the Balkan Science Journalism Workshop to be held in Trieste on 3rd July, 2020 in liaison with ESOF2020. The workshop is co-organised by the Center for Ethics in Science and Journalism (CESJ), the Balkan Network of Science Journalists, the Master’s Course in Science Communication “Franco Prattico” at SISSA, and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra. Grants covering travel and accommodation will be available; applications will open in Fall-Winter 2019.
The WCSJ 2019 was the occasion to unveil the new claim "Open knowledge, fair future" (graphics by Sintesi Hub) which will accompany ESOF2020 until its conclusion and which promotes the idea of free and shared knowledge as the basis for a fairer world and future.
