Since June 2017 he is Director of the National Center for Telemedicine and New Health Technologies, at the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità -ISS), conducting clinical research and R&D activities in the areas of Telemedicine, digital Healthcare, Robotics, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence, as well as activities consultancy, to support national and local institutions, as well as National Healthcare Service bodies.Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pisa, Specialization in General Surgery and Ph.D. in Experimental Surgery at the University of L'Aquila, Master and EUPF Register of Euro-Projects Designers and Manager. Researcher in numerous national and international projects since 1996 on technological innovations for: medical and surgical services; change management in health systems; patient safety and quality assurance of health services; design of eHealth and mHealth systems.
