Jason Reifler is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He studies political behaviour broadly defined, with a particular focus on misperceptions, misinformation (including “fake news”), and fact-checking. He additionally has published on attitudes towards vaccines as well as public opinion about foreign policy.
He has an ERC Consolidator Grant: “Debunker: The Problem of European Misperceptions in Politics, Health, and Science: Causes, Consequences, and the Search for Solutions.”
He is co-author of Paying the Human Costs of War (Princeton University Press) and has published scholarly articles in American Journal of Political Science, Political Behavior, International Security, Pediatrics, Vaccine, and other academic journals. He received a BA from Colby College and a PhD from Duke University.
He moved to Exeter in September 2013. He was previously on the faculty at Georgia State University (2007-2013) and Loyola University Chicago (2005-2007). Prior to grad school, he spent four years in Washington, DC working as an analyst at a polling firm.
