Hybrid conference – onsite in Leiden & online through the virtual conference platform

Leiden has purposely opted for a hybrid format that allows for maximum and inclusive participation while also minimising climate impact. ESOF2022 is intended to leverage all the benefits of this hybrid format. The delegates can participate in the following ways:

Onsite – In Leiden, the charming city of the oldest university in the Netherlands, will warmly welcome all speakers and delegates who will join the conference in person. Onsite attendees will also have full access to the entire online programme.

Online – Online only delegates are welcome to participate through our premium virtual conference platform, specially designed to allow all delegates to easily take part in all live sessions delivered online as well as all interactive session content. The virtual platform seamlessly blends onsite and online experiences so online delegates feel as if they’re onsite.

Registered onsite and online delegates will be able to access all online content for two months following the conclusion on the conference, so it’s impossible to miss anything.

What to expect

Onsite and online delegates will have access to a diverse scientific and networking programme of over 120 sessions; 6 pre-conference workshops; 2 plenary sessions; 7 keynote speakers, one for each the seven tracks; 80 poster presentations; special sessions organised by the regional Katowice site; an exhibition; two award ceremonies; five sponsored sessions; multiple satellite events; as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

Onsite experience in Leiden

Onsite delegates will attend the conference in the heart of the beautiful city of Leiden taking place in three extraordinary venues: the 900-year-old Pieterskerk, the Kamerlingh Onnes Building (KOG), and with the spectacular Stadsgehoorzaal as the Main Stage. They can also join other events happening in the city like the European Science in the City Festival, and Leiden2022, a special 365-day public engagement festival that celebrates all things science.

Social engagement and networking

Whether onsite or online, there will be also be plenty of opportunities for everyone to network and socialise. For example, onsite delegates can mingle at the opening and award ceremonies, the Delegates Party at the Hortus Botanicus, the sessions, sponsored events, fieldtrips and more; while online delegates, can interact with other delegates 24/7 in the Open Networking Area and inside the online sessions via the virtual conference platform.

Now the only question is: how will you join us? Onsite in Leiden? And/or online? Discover what ESOF2022 has to offer by browsing the full ESOF0222 programme. And most importantly, don’t forget to register to take part in this hybrid scientific conference!
