Is Europe ready for an alternative model of university? A long and bumpy road for European University Initiatives

The aim of panel is to discuss the concept of European University Initiatives – EUI as an opportunity for new form strategic collaboration between European universities. So called ‘European Universities’ are new umbrella structures of cross-border alliances that create a window opportunity for stronger, more versatile and stable institutional partnership. The prime motivation of the panel discussion is the report from the study of the adaption of EUI in 11 Polish higher education institutions prepared by the research team from Nicolaus Copernicus University. The major findings from the study with some preliminary conclusions will be presented. So, the panelists will have opportunity share their ideas and comments as well as they also will be asked to reflect upon potential benefits that stem from participation in EUI. The panel will be concluded with listening major challenges for its implementation as well barriers that can effectively lead to failure of the initiatives.
