cOAlition S

cOAlition S (https://www.coalition-s.org) is an international consortium of 27 research funding and performing organisations from Europe, North America and Africa who support Plan S, an Open Access publishing initiative launched in September 2018. It is supported by the European Commission and Science Europe and hosted by the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg, France.

Plan S requires that, with effect from 2021, all scholarly publications on the results from research funded by public or private grants provided by national, regional, and international research councils and funding bodies must be published in Open Access Journals, on Open Access Platforms, or made immediately available through Open Access Repositories without embargo. cOAlition S has developed a number of Plan S-aligned Open Access policies and tools to work together with the scholarly community towards a fair and transparent academic publishing landscape.

ESOF2022 provides a unique space for thought-provoking discussions about scientific research and innovation that could solve the challenges we are facing today, especially if we also harness the power of Open Access to scholarly publications. We invite you to visit our online booth and attend our sessions to find out more about the Plan S policies, services and tools and how you can benefit from them.

ESOF IN A NUTSHELL

ESOF – EuroScience Open Forum – founded in 2004 by EuroScience, the European Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology; is the biennial pan-European convention dedicated to research and innovation.

At ESOF, leading scientists, researchers, young researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public from all over Europe discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.

This project is co-funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe Work Programme – project European City of Science and EuroScience Open Forum Leiden 2022 (Project number 101052247) and is coordinated by Stichting Leiden European City of Science 2022 (Leiden2022).
