“ESOF is more than a forum where one learns about the cutting-edge research taking place in Europe. It is also a bridge between science and society, a stimulating platform for debate and discussion about the role of science in our society. ESOF 2020 allowed me to engage with other stakeholders beyond the scientific community and participate in areas directly impacting research, such as science policy, science communication, and open science. Trieste, a seaport city at the heart of Europe, was a superb location for ESOF. Its strong tradition of research and scientific internationalism resonated with the spirit of ESOF. This Forum is an excellent venue for those willing to participate in the dialogue between science, society and policy.”

ESOF IN A NUTSHELL

ESOF – EuroScience Open Forum – founded in 2004 by EuroScience, the European Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology; is the biennial pan-European convention dedicated to research and innovation.

At ESOF, leading scientists, researchers, young researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public from all over Europe discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in the sciences, humanities and social sciences.

This project is co-funded by the European Union under Horizon Europe Work Programme – project European City of Science and EuroScience Open Forum Leiden 2022 (Project number 101052247) and is coordinated by Stichting Leiden European City of Science 2022 (Leiden2022).
